The Potosi Environmental Club had a busy week of learning. On Monday, 4/15, Dr. Jeff Heubschman of UW-Platteville came to Potosi and presented to our club about bats in Wisconsin. He shared info on why he's interested in bats, how he studies bats in Wisconsin, White-nose Syndrome, and the state of bats in Wisconsin.
Then on Monday, 4/22, we went on a field trip to Maquoketa Caves and the Hurstville Interpretive Center (just north of Maquoketa). We got to see the natural cave formations at Maquoketa Caves, as well as native woodland habitats. We did a little bird watching while we hiked over 4 miles. At the Hurstville Interpretive Center we were able to see detailed displays of the various habitats of the area (prairie and wetlands), fine taxidermy work of a wide variety of animals, and some live animals from honey bees to turtles, snakes, and cockroaches. All in all, it was a fun day!

Come join our team! Potosi Schools is looking for a Special Education Aide. We know there is a very special person out there that this would be a perfect fit for. You can make a difference in our students' lives!

The PC Baseball game scheduled for today - Friday, April 26th - has been cancelled.

Due to earlier school delays and cancellations, the Potosi School District will have FULL STUDENT DAYS ON MAY 15th & 22nd. These were previously scheduled early release days, but now will be FULL DAYS WITH DISMISSAL AT 3:30. Please update your home calendars to reflect this. (May 1st, May 8th, and May 24th are still early release days.)

As a result of delayed starts during winter weather, the Potosi School District is four (4) hours short of the required instructional time for the 2023-2024 school year.
To remedy the situation, previously planned early releases on Wednesday, May 15th and Wednesday, May 22nd will now be full student days.
(Please note that we will still have 1:30pm early releases on Wednesday, May 1st; Wednesday, May 8th; and on the last day for students, Friday, May 24th.)
Please update your calendars and reach out to the school offices if you have any questions.

Papa Murphy's Day in 3rd Grade was the best! Mary Morgan Sheckler, Mrs. Uppena's sister and owner of Papa Murphy's in Platteville and Prairie du Chien, brought in all the ingredients for us to make our own pizzas today! We made our recipe on paper, using halves, thirds, or fourths. Then we used her recipe cards to put the right amount of ingredients and used scales to get the right amount of sauce and cheese. We got to take them home to bake them tonight! What a delicious math lesson! Thank you, Papa Murphy's! ❤️🍕
