Potosi Elementary School received a generous donation of a picture communication board from UWP students Kali Oyen and Jeanna Rupnow. Kali and Jeanna raised nearly $4,000 to fund 16 boards across schools and parks in southwest Wisconsin so that playgrounds are more inclusive for students with Autism and other communication disorders. The board is a wonderful tool for students to and invite play through the use of pictures. April is Autism Awareness month so what a fitting gift to receive this final week of April! Thank you Kali and Jeana for choosing Potosi! The 2021 Potosi Greenhouse Sale will be ONLINE ONLY this year. The availability of plants will be fulfilled in the order in which orders are received. First come, first serve. At the beginning of the order, you will select your pick-up day and time. You do not need to create an account with School Pay when you order - you can check out as a guest only. An exciting addition to the Potosi Elementary School playground! Thanks to a donation from the Potosi Lions Club and the exceptional craftsmanship of Scherrer Construction (Scherrer Cares Buddy Bench on Facebook), this week we added our own “Buddy Bench”. If students need a buddy, they sit on the bench. Then, other students will see them, and try to include them in play. What a great addition to our SEL Program (Social-Emotional-Learning)! This bench is the first of many new additions coming to our playground.

Students in high school speech class recently concluded their storytelling unit with puppet shows for the preschool class. Students had to take a story, adding an introduction and a teaching conclusion to it while maintaining an expressive tone through various characters.

Spring Concessions Sports Boosters has received permission to have concessions at high school baseball/softball games this spring!! With that said, is anyone willing to help?? Mrs. Uppena’s students recently started the Two by Two Kindhearted kids program. During the program, children learn to make good decisions for people, animals, and the environment through the introduction of the Golden Rule: Treat all living things the way you want to be treated. The Two by Two Mission – developing responsible citizens of strong character who care for, respect and appreciate people, animals and the environment – leads us to the belief that citizens of strong character will not only recognize and embrace core values through our programming, but will act upon and synthesize these values into their daily lives.

A note from Junior Parents about PROM: Dear Parents/Guardians, Junior Class parents are sponsoring the 2021 Prom for the Potosi High School students on Saturday, April 24th, at the Holiday Gardens Event Center. The Potosi High School is not affiliated with this event. Junior parents will help supervise the dance and Post Prom event. The Prom dance will start at 7:00 p.m., and there will be a Grand March for the Junior Class at 9:00 p.m. for those that want to attend. The dance will end at 10:30 p.m. There will be a Post Prom event from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Students will not be allowed to leave Post Prom until 1:00 a.m. when the event is over. Post prom will consist of bean bags, casino night activities, and sumo wrestling! Snacks and drinks will be served during Post Prom. Each student may bring one guest to prom from any district if they so wish. Students will have the opportunity to sign up for this event by filling out a Prom and Post Prom permission form. We ask that students register no later than Wednesday, April 21st. Students may choose to attend the Prom dance only, Post Prom event only, or both events.
