Potosi School District’s Brain Health Retreat Room (BHRR) and involvement in using the Choose Love resource were recently featured in SWCAP’s Community Wellness Summit at SWTC in Fennimore. Community organizations from Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, Green, Crawford, and Richland counties were able to learn more about how we’ve implemented the Choose Love wellness resource, and were able to experience a mock BHRR. It was not nearly as amazing as the actual physical space we created with Brain Health Now in our district, but participant feedback shared that it was a welcomed retreat after continuous stressful daily schedules, an intense day of learning, and problem solving about how we can support the stigma around mental health in our communities. We are grateful for this opportunity to share the great things are happening in our school❤️

KOLTON VOGELSBERG, POTOSI/CASSVILLE -- Athlete of the Week -- Please VOTE Vogelsberg was dominant on the mound as the Potosi/Cassville baseball team shut out Monticello/Albany 7-0 in the opening regional matchup last Thursday. The sophomore tossed a no-hitter in the shutout win, striking out 11 batters and walking just four in the playoff victory. He added a hit, RBI, walk, run scored, and stolen base from the plate, showing his versatility. The co-op has struggled this season, so Vogelsberg performance was huge in getting his team a playoff victory. https://www.wissports.net/news_article/show/1311108

📚🎉 Last School Day Fun for Our 4th Graders! 🎉📚 After some morning reading, we turned our books and supplies into a fun tower-building challenge! Using small boxes, string, masking tape, popsicle sticks, and paper, the goal was to build a 1-foot tall tower sturdy enough to stack books on. Every team got the same supplies and books (in the same order, of course). The winning team stacked 20 books on their tower! Another team stacked 34 books but missed the height requirement! We also created cards for a 4th-grader from another school who is in the hospital. Mrs. Helmke will send them for her to enjoy this summer! ❤️ Rainy days call for movies, so we voted, and Goonies was the winner! 🍿🎥 What a great end to the school year!

Memorial Day is a special day to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for our country. It's a time to honor their courage and the freedom they fought to protect for all of us. "All gave some, some gave all."

The Potosi Middle School Forensics team performed a readers theatre of the book My Life as a Potato, by Ariane Costner, for elementary and middle school classes on the last few days of school. The story follows a 7th grade boy who moves from California to Idaho and is forced to be the school's mascot--Steve the Spud!

This school year during Choose Love lessons, our 5th graders had the opportunity to be penpals with 5th grade Choose Love Youth Ambassadors from Goshen Elementary School in Goshen, New York. Today, students got to meet them virtually to ask and answer questions about living in different areas of the United States. It was fun to learn about our similarities and differences of the climate, school day, and opportunities in our communities!
