Seventeen PHS students across grades 8-12 took part in a Sources of Strength Peer Leader Training on Tuesday, November 12th at Cassville High School. Students participated in activities to build connections and identify strengths within each of us. The mission of Sources of Strength is to spread Hope, Health, and Strength into every corner of our community. Peer Leaders are trained to share their student voice and build a positive school culture where everyone belongs. Peer leaders are connectors. They understand the courage needed to break the silence when someone is hurting and to connect them with Trusted Adults. Sources of Strength teaches students to use the power of their voice to spread hope by focusing on stories of strength and healing. It was a powerful day of learning! After this training, Potosi has 40 students trained as Peer Leaders! Thank to Mrs. Haverland, Mr. Edge, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Helmke, and Mrs. Cooley for being Sources of Strength Advisors! #PotosiPride!

Potosi High School’s bowling club, the Potosi Fireballz, just completed their first season as part of the Southwest Wisconsin High School Bowling League, which brings local schools together to compete in Baker’s Format bowling. It is a short season—just four meets. The club was sponsored by Fireball Lanes of Lancaster. Owners Tim and Jen Rice generously opened up their lanes, bought us t-shirts, and helped the students improve their skills. We finished 6th in the league this year. Aidan Uppena earned first team. Damian Bauer earned second team. The entire team improved their skill level and became more confident bowlers on the lanes. Mrs. Haverland was excited to be a part of the adventure and she’s excited to open up the opportunity to even more students next year.

💙 💙 Celebrate National #SchoolPsychWeek with the Potosi School District! From November 11 through 15, let’s take a moment to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our school psychologists! School psychologists are uniquely qualified members of our school teams, applying their expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to support the success of our children and youth. Their dedication and commitment make a profound difference in the lives of many. Thank you, to our amazing team of school psychologists in the Potosi School District: Mrs. Cooley, District School Psychologist, and Mrs. Helmke, SEL (Social, Emotional Learning) Coach!
