Over the summer, the WIDOT (Wisconsin Department of Transportation) adjusted Highway 61 North by adding a third lane, as a middle turning lane. The highway was not widened, which does not allow for any parking on the highway. This is safety hazard to the oncoming traffic and to you, the pedestrian.
Effective immediately, September 7th, 2021, the Village of Tennyson amended ordinance 10-1-27(5) OF THE MUNICPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF TENNYSON, GRANT COUNTY, WISCONSIN, RELATED TO PARKING ON US HIGHWAY 61 NORTH reads as follows…
“It shall be unlawful for any person to park, stop or leave standing any vehicle, whether attended or unattended, on U. S. Highway 61 between Bunker Hill Street and the exit from U. S. Highway 61 to Main Street in Potosi.”

We understand this is an inconvenience for both the Potosi Public School and all of you who attend events at the school.
Last week, the WIDOT was in our village to put down stakes on both sides of the highway to mark where the new “No Parking” signs will be located. The signs were ordered by the state and should be in place by Grant County Highway Department by the end of the week.
