As seniors are getting closer and closer to their final day of high school, reality is starting to set in. Feelings of excitement, fear, and anxious anticipation are slowly starting to creep into the senior class.

Many seniors begin their secondary education this upcoming fall, attending colleges, universities, or technical schools throughout the state. Like most seniors, many are nervous about their future. Senior Brooklyn Friederick will be attending Saint Norbert College in De Pere WI. Brooklyn claims that “I am kind of nervous, but I am more excited now that I have found my roommate.” Brooklyn is moving up to De Pere in late August, and believes that living on campus will give her the best college experience. With the nerves comes some excitement for Brooklyn as she is looking forward to having the chance to study abroad at some point during her time at Saint Norbert.

Similar to Brooklyn, Jake is moving to UW-Platteville’s campus this fall to pursue Mechanical Engineering. Jake looks forward to moving out of home and into his dorm, but is going to miss the comfort of home. He is most excited about getting to know new people, but nervous about the workload of college.

Just like Brooklyn and Jake, I will be moving out this fall to La Crosse and attending Viterbo University while majoring in nursing. The thought of moving two hours away from my family, while going to school for nursing will be tough, and it makes me extremely nervous. I find some comfort in knowing that there are going to be a few classmates of mine in La Crosse, but the thought of being alone is scary. With the nerves, I am excited to meet new people, and get out of my comfort zone.

With graduation less than two weeks away, you could say that the future of these seniors is right in front of them. Leaving Potosi High School behind will be a big change for many. Best of luck to the seniors as they move onto the next chapter of their life.
