Mrs. Brunton with 2020 graduates

If you’re a high school student here at Potosi, I’m sure you have taken one or two Ag classes in your schedule. If you haven’t, there are many students who would tell you that you are really missing out. They all think this way for one reason: our Ag teacher, Mrs. Tracy Brunton.

Mrs. Brunton is one of the high school students' favorite teachers. She will always greet you with a smile and ask you about your day, and if you ever need to talk to someone, she will be first in line to listen to whatever it may be. She is one of the most understanding and friendly teachers around.

“When I was ready to leave my old job, I knew I wanted to stay in the area so I could be close to Platteville. I was fortunate enough that Potosi was open and was looking for an Ag teacher,” said Mrs. Brunton. She was interviewed for the position and learned a lot about Potosi Schools that she didn’t know, and it solidified her decision about accepting the position. Potosi also is a reasonable distance from Platteville, which was really convenient.

I also asked Mrs. Brunton some things she loves about her students, because she tends to have a lot of students in her classes who may not prefer the traditional core subjects in school, but who do better in hands-on classes like hers. Sometimes, these students can be more difficult to connect with, but she is always smiling and in a great mood. Even when she isn’t having the best day, she is still one of the kindest people in the school and will always be there to listen to what’s going on in your life. “Even though at times my nerves may get tweaked, I still enjoy my students. Everyone has days where they get more bothered than others, but that doesn’t mean that I should treat anyone differently than I normally would. We work through it and get on with the day.”

One thing that helps Mrs. Brunton love her job even more is not only the staff, but the kids. “The students in Potosi are just really great kids. They are fun, work hard in class, and really seem to enjoy what we do in my classroom and in FFA.”

Potosi students, if you haven’t had the opportunity to take a class with Mrs. Brunton, our amazing Ag teacher, I highly suggest you do so, because you are missing out!
