As many of you have already heard or have seen, the high school gym received a few appealing updates. First, the walls that hold the basketball hoops for the main court are wood; previously the wood finish was being shown. Concluding the updates, now the wood finish is painted over with white paint.
“I’ve noticed over the past years, teams tend to shoot better with the darker backdrop,” said Coach Uppena, the head basketball coach for Potosi Boys Basketball team. “Hopefully with the brighter colors it works to our advantage,” Uppena added.
If you have been into the gym since the updates have been finished, then you have also noticed that both of the walls that the bleachers are on have also been repainted. The wall on the side of the bleachers that hosts the home and visiting adults has been completely painted white with a maroon stripe that is wrapped around the wall that's directly opposite of the fan entrance.
With the visual change of setting, the gym looks like a completely new place.
But does it feel like a new place? Previously our gym with a full crowd has been very loud, and everyone is hoping we can get back to that in the upcoming season.
