Construction takes hard work, patience, and teamwork. RP Builders is a Wisconsin business that I wanted to learn more about because construction is an important job that helps people build and improve their homes.

When I asked what made him want to get into construction, Ryan Painter, the owner of RP Builders, explained, “I like working with my hands and being able to see what I have built when the job is finished.” This shows how construction can be a good career for people who enjoy building things and working with tools.

According to Paynter, the most challenging aspect of the job is when “Sometimes things do not go as planned, and you have to figure out how to fix the problem and keep the job moving.” This is nice to know because construction is not always easy, and workers need to know how to solve problems.

In a previous conversation, I asked what skills someone needs to be good at construction. He answered, “You need to work hard, pay attention to details, and be able to work with other people.” These projects take time and require teamwork. Construction workers need technical skills such as reading blueprints, using power tools safely, understanding building codes, basic math for measurements, and problem-solving skills when unexpected issues come along during the building process.

RP Builders helps the Potosi area by improving homes, buildings, and other properties in the community. Some of the projects he's done in this area include siding people's houses all around Potosi. He also helped build the new clinic and is also going to be helping with the new addition to the school.

Local construction businesses matter because they keep money in the area and support other local businesses that provide tools, materials, and supplies. RP Builders can also help make the Potosi area safer, stronger, and more attractive by completing quality construction and repair projects. When local businesses work in the community, they help it keep growing.

Finally, I asked what advice he would give to someone interested in construction. He said, “Be willing to learn, ask questions, and always put effort into your work.”

It takes more than just tools and materials to finish a project. It takes planning, teamwork, and people who are willing to work hard. For students at Potosi School District who enjoy working with their hands, construction could be a career worth looking into. RP Builders also shows how a local business can help improve the Potosi area and support the people who live there.
