As the baseball season progresses, players are working hard to improve and become comfortable in their roles. For Kolton Vogelsberg, this season has been about getting back into the swing of things after the offseason and finding his confidence again. Like other players, he has faced challenges but continues to push himself to improve every day.
Kolton says his biggest challenge this season has been “getting comfortable again.” After time away or changes in performance, it can be difficult to feel fully confident on the field. He says, each game, he has to worry about not getting hurt game to game. He explained that returning to that sense of comfort has taken time after the ACL injury to his right knee suffered last year during a basketball game, but he is continuing to work on it as the season goes on.
What makes baseball special to Kolton is the chance to be himself. Even though it is a team sport, he feels that baseball allows players to show their individuality. When asked about his favorite moment this season, Kolton pointed to a standout performance against Cuba City. He pitched an entire game and helped lead his team to a 10–4 win. This moment was especially meaningful because it showed how far he has come and gave him confidence moving forward.
Kolton prepares for games by sticking to the same routine every time. He focuses on his pitching and batting exercises to make sure he is ready to play. By keeping his preparation consistent, he stays focused, even when facing tough pitchers in games.
Even with his success with an overall good season, Kolton knows there are areas where he can improve. He said he wants to get better at RBI situations, which means bringing runners home when they are in scoring position. Improving in this area would help both his personal performance and his team’s success.
Kolton’s advice to younger players is simple: have fun and enjoy the experience. He believes being around friends and enjoying the game is important, and that most pressure comes from within. By staying positive and not putting pressure on themselves, players can play better and have a more rewarding season.
