As a school counselor, Mrs. Davis’s main goal is simple: help students succeed. Every day, she works to support students’ academics, mental health, and future plans. Whether students need advice, a safe place to talk, or help solving a problem, Mrs. Davis is always ready to listen. She also works closely with teachers and families to make sure every student feels supported and valued at school.
Before becoming a counselor, Mrs. Davis spent 13 years at UW–Platteville working in financial aid as an advisor and scholarship coordinator. She enjoyed helping students, she wanted to make a bigger, more personal impact. She later decided to work at the Distance Learning Center, supporting online master’s students in Engineering and Criminal Justice. During this time, she decided to pursue a counseling degree while working full-time. Encouraged by a professor, she took a leap of faith and earned her school counseling license.
After earning her degree, Mrs. Davis returned to a district where she had previously completed hands-on experience. A few years later, she moved to Indiana and worked as an online counselor for one of the largest online schools in the country. Even though the job was Fulfilling, she missed the busy hallways and face-to-face connections of a traditional school. That led her to a high school with 1,200 students, where she supported a caseload of 350 students.
Eventually, Mrs. Davis had the opportunity to move closer to family, which brought her to Potosi, Wisconsin. She applied for an open counseling position and quickly felt at home in the welcoming school community. She even works alongside her brother, Mark Siegert, who is the head football coach, physical education teacher, and athletic director at Potosi-Cassville.
No two days are the same for Mrs. Davis. Students stop by her office to talk about stress, worries, or mental health concerns. She also teaches Social Emotional Learning (SEL) to middle school students on Wednesdays and supervises the Brain Health Retreatment Room (BHHR). In addition, she helps students plan for life after high school by assisting with college applications, scholarships, and dual-enrollment college courses through Southwest Tech.
Mrs. Davis’s career has been shaped by her passion for helping others. Through every role she has taken on, her focus has stayed the same: making a positive difference in students’ lives, one conversation at a time.
