The most liked post on the Potosi Lazyboy Instagram account, with 73 likes, shows multiple pictures of the PC football players having fun and being themselves around their friends. It shows their fun personalities and what they like doing in their free time.
The LazyBoy Instagram account, previously known as the PHS Student Section, was originally founded by Erin Potter back in 2022. This account was created by students, and it is separate from the Potosi High School account that is run by teachers and administration. The Lazy Boy is used to post gameday posts, funny photos of the athletes and students, and mainly to encourage and support the Potosi High School athletic teams. Erin made the PHS Student Section, and then Nova White, a student in the graduating class of 2025, changed the name to PHS Lazy Boy. Nova ran the account throughout her senior year. Once she graduated, she handed the account to current senior Ryleigh Meier.
“It is a big responsibility to take on,” Ryleigh Meier said. “It is a lot to handle while I am taking three college courses as well as being in volleyball. It is sometimes hard to find time.” Ryleigh said it takes her around 15 minutes to create a post and come up with creative ideas, or even decide on a dress-up theme for the games. “It usually doesn’t take me too long, but sometimes I have to go around asking what people want the dress-up theme to be,” said Ryleigh. The account is where people can find out what the dress-up theme for the student section will be for each home game.
When she was handed the Instagram account, she had a mixture of feelings. “I felt excited and grateful to have this opportunity, but I was a little surprised,” Ryleigh said. This was a big responsibility to take on, and Ryleigh was willing to take it. With her fun personality and involvement in a lot of extracurricular activities, she is the perfect admin for the account. Her creative ideas really show when you are looking at the posts on the Instagram page. For example, on Volleyball senior night, Ryleigh added baby pictures of all of the seniors.
Ryleigh plans on handing it off again to someone in the class of 2027 when they become seniors. “I have a couple of people in mind that I think would be a perfect fit for the job.” The job is not easy, and you have to be up to date on what is going on, including girls' and boys' sports, clubs, and much more, as well as having a creative mindset.
The PHS Lazy Boy is a useful way for the school and community to connect, communicate, and encourage each other. Ryleigh Meier does a great job at keeping the account up to date and has fun creating ideas for everyone to look at and enjoy.
