Potosi-Cassville baseball is lacking a little bit of the Cassville part of that equation this year. Ben Infield, a sophomore with the perfect name for baseball, is the only player from Cassville on the co-op baseball team this year. This is something that can be tricky and difficult. Cassville players always have to go the extra mile to get to practice or games. Ben Infield says, “It is definitely a weird change; I've never been the only one riding the van.”
The reason for such low numbers is that the amount of kids going out for the Cassville-Potosi track is going up. Another reason is that a lot of kids choose to do neither track nor baseball.
Ben contributes importantly to the Potosi-Cassville baseball team. As a sophomore, Ben is a starter. He plays third base and shortstop. He also hits lead-off, being a consistent hitter with a .396 batting average at this time.
Even though the team is lacking in Cassville numbers of kids, Ben makes a huge contribution and has a big impact on the team. Ben will continue to excel at every sport he plays, which are baseball, football, and basketball, which will become a co-op team next year. He is only a sophomore and has a promising future ahead of him.
