A new game played by high school seniors is called Senior Assassin. It first became popular through social media apps, especially TikTok. The game is basically a battle royale in real life, but with water guns and swim devices.

Senior Assassin first became “a thing” at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year, but became more popular towards the end of the year when the weather started becoming warmer. Each senior was given a target to get within a certain time period. As long as you wore a swimming device like floaties, a life jacket, or goggles, you were considered safe.

On Saturdays, we had a “purge” day, where there were no safe zones, besides work and school events, and swim devices didn’t keep you safe. All other days, the safe zones were school, work, and your house. To keep the game going fast, we had a certain time period to get our target out; otherwise, we were eliminated ourselves.

Out of the 35 seniors at Potosi High School, 22 played. We had quite a few seniors get knocked out in the first round.

After a few weeks and “purge” days had passed, Jaxon Oyen emerged as the winner of senior assassin by eliminating Mia Breuer in her own home. Jaxon won a gift certificate to The Hub, a gift card to a place of his choice, $10, and bragging rights. The Hub in Potosi gifted the senior class a gift certificate, and the gift card was bought using what is left in the senior class account.

The overall experience of Senior Assassin was enjoyable to play in and watch. I could see the next year’s seniors continue to play Senior Assassin, but it will be up to them to continue the tradition.
