This year's FFA judging will start at the end of March. Mrs. Brunton has high hopes for this year’s judging teams. There are returning individuals in multiple contests, and they will be able to contribute a lot in the effort to move on to further contests. The hope for this year is that there will be many teams moving on to bigger and better competitions like state and possibly even nationals.

The unexpected team that performed very well last year, and has opportunities for this year, is the poultry judging team. There are three returning members: Ryan Stoney, Isaiah Groom, and Connor Robbins. They are looking to fill the last spot on the team. This will be the second consecutive year that Potosi FFA has had a team to send to this competition. Last year, they made it to state, in addition to the horse judging team. Mrs. Brunton was surprised but glad to see that they did so well last year.

Brunton says that the key to any team doing well is, you guessed it, practice. You have to practice a lot and that can mean in and out of school. Last year, the poultry team practiced a ton, and hopefully, they can do it again this year and make it even further.

Mrs. Brunton loves the judging season. She gets to leave school to go to all of the contests including Soil Judging, Dairy Judging, Poultry Judging, Livestock, Horse Judging, Wildlife, and Floriculture, and they are all a lot of fun. However, she does have a lot of responsibilities. She has to organize the kids, know bus times, and make sure everyone eats. Mrs. Brunton also has to teach everyone how to judge, so that means she has to know a little bit, or a lot, about every single contest.

There is a good chance that the Potosi FFA will do very well this year in judging competitions. They have returning judgers, a lot of practice, and a very good FFA advisor. The goal is for each individual or team to make it to a next level, whether that be regional, state, or even nationals like the soil judging team the last two years. They have done it in the past and they can do it again now. Good luck to the Potosi FFA!
