Reid Weber is a sophomore at Potosi High School. He also was the quarterback for the JV football team. In the first game of the season versus Cuba City, Reid was brought down hard by a defender. Reid unfortunately broke his wrist on the play.. “I was scrambling on a pass play, got past two of the defenders, and the third got me.”

Reid had just made the transition to quarterback this year. Last year, as a freshman, Reid played receiver. Making the switch for him wasn't too bad considering his older brother Dawson Weber is the QB for the varsity team. Reid was looking promising as a young QB. This injury unfortunately cut that short.

He says, “It made me realize how important your wrists are.” Reid said that they had to drill through his bone and connect rods to two different bones. He also had pins they had to put in and then remove later. He will recover from this injury with physical therapy over the next month or more. During the PT, there will be a lot of grip strength workouts and rotational movement with his wrist.

Reid says “I want to recover as fast as possible because I am bored of not playing sports.” He wants to get back before basketball starts. This shows his love for sports and he is excited to get back.  He knew it was something unlucky, but he said, “I will be determined to recover and come back better.”

His older brother Dawson Weber also went through a similar situation. During Dawson's sophomore year, he was playing in a JV football game versus Wauzena-Seneca-Stueben. Dawson also was rolling out on a pass play and got hit. He landed on his shoulder, which ended up with him breaking his collarbone. This was also the first game of the season. Something very similar has happened to both of these brothers.

Reid’s outlook on his situation has been nothing but positive and he is on track for a speedy recovery. He is hoping to get back during basketball season. Reid says he is excited to return to sports, the thing he loves the most.
