Potosi-Cassville’s football team had a great starting lineup, but they had to lean on their depth this year to overcome injuries to key players.

During the 2023 football season, the Potosi-Cassville football team faced a lot of injuries which played a huge part in their performance. They had to rely on their depth as key players were injured and changing positions and play styles occurred. The team even had to recruit valuable players from the JV football team to fill in the roles of their varsity counterparts.

Throughout the season, the team faced many challenges. One of the first major downs came in week three versus Darlington RedBirds when Nolan Vogelsburg tore his ACL "with one bad step". This forced the team to rotate a lot of players to fill Nolan's position on both offense and defense.

Roman Fredrick also faced problems with his leg, but he played through the pain and significantly impacted all sides of the game. However, a few days after the game in week four, Roman found out that he had played with a torn meniscus and fractures in his femur from the previous week's match versus the Darlington RedBirds. With Roman out of the game, the team had to make adjustments by putting Aaron Edge at kicker and Logan Raush at fullback and middle linebacker to fill in the positions and get more repetitions. Kadin Walsh had to take on more leadership and motivate the players on the field.

Overall, the team had to work hard with substitutions to make things work smoothly despite the injuries.

Despite the challenges, the Potosi-Cassville football team persevered and continued to work hard throughout the season. Their depth and resilience helped them overcome the injuries to key players and still put up a strong fight. Though they faced ups and downs, they never lost sight of their goals and continued to push forward. In the end, the team learned a lot from this season and will use their experiences to come back even stronger next year.

After the Cuba City football game, Roman Friedrick saw a doctor and had surgery; his recovery was only two weeks, and then he continued his senior season. Nolan Vogelsberg got an ACL brace and continued playing the rest of his junior football season with a torn ACL. He had his ACL surgery after the football season.

Kadin Walsh and the rest of the football team continued playing hard throughout the rest of the season, despite the difficulties, and they continued on to round three in the playoffs versus Black Hawk/Warren before they lost. The team had to adapt and learn how to play with different people and substitutions and had a great season.
